On August 7th, Amie reported to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) and officially began her 18 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! She will spend some time training there before she heads to Taiwan.
Before we dropped her off, we drove across the street and up the hill to the Provo Temple where we were able to take some pictures and walk around a little. It was a gorgeous day, and it was so nice to just spend a little quiet time with her before she left. Families are now asked to take pictures and say your goodbyes before dropping your missionary off. Not an easy task!
The procedure at the MTC now is to just drop your missionary off at the curb, and you only have a few minutes to unload their luggage and kiss them goodbye. I was worried about it, but it was really nice. The sidewalks were lined with a 'welcome committee', and each missionary that was dropped off had one specific person to help them take their luggage and to get inside to orientation and their classes. I was even able to snap a few pictures, through my tears, as she turned and headed inside. :)

And there she goes! Off to begin her mission to preach the
gospel of Jesus Christ to the wonderful people of Taiwan!
So very proud of her decision! Love you Qiao Jie Mei!
